December 7, 2008
After taking a break from genealogy for most of 2008, I'm now starting to get back into it. To start 2009, I'll be trying to get back in touch with people who have sent me information or pictures, and try to reply to the hundreds of emails I've been ignoring lately! I also hope to add more pictures to the website. Stay tuned!
What You'll Find Here
- What's In My Book
This research is current through April 10, 2007.
After four years, the Fifth Edition of my book is now complete!
Together, the following files make up a book I'm continuously updating
on my ancestors. It is composed of an introduction, four volumes
on my family's history (one for each of my grandparents), a list
of cemeteries, a list of references, and an index of all of the names
throughout the books. In printed form, this edition, with the inclusion of
266 pictures, is 640 pages!
To view the cleaner, neater-looking PDF files, you'll
need
Adobe Acrobat Reader software. Otherwise, you can view the HTML files.
- Introduction (PDF Version)
or (HTML Version)
You should look here first! This details how I have organized my research. If you don't
understand some of the notation I've used, this should help explain it.
- Index of Names (PDF Version)
or (HTML Version)
You should look here after reading the introduction!
This is an alphabetical list of all the names I have used in my
research. The letter/number combination after the name is the
section where that person is mentioned. If the number is B-6-2,
go to the "Section B" file and scroll down to B-6-2. In Netscape it might be
easier to choose "find..." from the Edit menu and type in "B-6-2".
- My Research
You should open one of the following files after finding a name in the index!
This is the heart of
what you'll find on my webpage. Everything I know about my ancestors
can be found in one of these files. Use the index to find which of these
files has the person you're looking for. Choose from either the *.pdf files or the *.html files.

- Sources (PDF Version)
or (HTML Version)
All of the superscripts found in my research refer to these sources.
- Cemetery List (PDF Version)
or (HTML Version)
All of the cemeteries mentioned in my research are listed here with
the full name of the cemetery and its general location.
- Old Pictures!
Now the pictures are displayed in multiple albums. (4/14/07)
Nearly all of these pictures are of families in the Wilkes/Alleghany Co, NC, area or
the Carroll/Floyd Co, VA, area. I'm always looking for more if you have any to offer.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is available for viewing pdf files.

The following items are records that I have collected or compiled.
- Life in Rural Wilkes Co, NC
This is a term paper I wrote in 1994 about life in the early 1900s in
Wilkes Co, NC, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
- Items For Sale
In order to share what I have learned about our ancestors I have begun
to sell copies of my research. Now offering color copies of pictures!
- Genealogy Links
I've gathered a wide ranging list of the genealogy sites I have
visited. There are some really good ones here.
If you have information to share about my/our ancestors, please let me know. You
may have new information that I can add, or I may have additional information that will
help you with your research.
