Made of pine, this country pie safe mimics the
Early American style of the Appalachians. This cabinet's
unique design is punctuated by the beveled lap boards in the
back and the beaded corners on the face and doors.
The finish is comprised of an acrylic paint with burnished
highlights underneath a polyurethane topcoat. The finish
was applied in such a way as to give it the worn, rustic
look of an antique.
It features four large hand-punched tin panels, which -- in the
1800s -- would have served to let air pass through as pies and
other baked goods cooled. Today this cabinet can be used as a
linen closet, as a TV cabinet, or in a kitchen for extra storage.
